How to Root Micromax A110 Canvas 2 and Install ClockworkMod recovery

 

Micromax has recently launched a 5 inch screen Phablet device named as Canvas 2. It is a dual SIM touch screen phone powered by Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The 5 inch display of the phone has a pixel resolution of 854x480p. It has dual-core 1GHz processor for fast processing and smooth functioning. To capture the memorable moments into beautiful stills and videos, the device has an 8MP camera, which is supported by an LED flash. It is powered by a 2,000mAh Li-ion battery and the company claims it provides a talk time up to five hours and up to 180 hours of standby time. The device is kept in the price range of 10k which impresses many youths towards it.

Therefore, we have come up with an article to help you root your Micromax A110 without much trouble. This way you will be able to access the system files, where you can make modifications and changes according to your choice. Moreover, this article will also help you to flash the famous custom recovery i.e. “ClockworkMod Recovery” on your device. What to do before installing ROM or Rooting your device?
Step 1: We always suggest a full backup of your Android device before you go for rooting or installing custom ROM. Backup all your SMS, Backup/Export Contacts, Backup APN settings. You can also follow our Tutorial on creating backup of Android device without root access.
Step 2: You should also Backup all apps, if you have not rooted your device yet then follow this procedure to backup apps. If you have an rooted device then use Titanium to Backup and restore apps and cache data.
Step 3: Enable USB debugging on your device, Go to settings>>Developer options and check the USB debug box. If you are not able to get it check our detailed guide on enabling USB debugging on Jelly Bean, Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread.
Step 4: Always check your battery before performing rooting procedure or installing ROM. If you have low battery status then you may face interruption while the procedure and it may brick your device. Check our tutorial on how to get battery percentage on Status bar.
Step 5: If you are going to install Custom ROM then it’s better to create a full Nandroid Backup of your device. You can also use Custom recovery to create Nandroid backup.
Step 6: We would also suggest disabling security apps and programs like Antivirus and Firewall on your Android device as it may interrupt the procedure.
I am sure that if you take care of above mentioned steps carefully then there is lot less chance of issues. If you face any issues with ROM then you can revert back to previous Nandroid Backup. Also you have all SMS, settings and apps data with you that can be restored anytime.
Download Bin4ry Rooting Tool, ClockworkMod Recovery Image and MobileUncle MTK Tool from here to your computer. Extract the Bin4ry rooting tool zip package into a folder onto the desktop of your PC for convenience. Rename the CWM recovery file you downloaded to “recovery.img” and then place it to the root directory of your phone’s SD card.

Procedure to Root and Install ClockworkMod on Micromax A110 Canvas 2:

Step 1: First of all, connect your phone to the PC via original USB cable i.e. the cable that came with it.
Step 2: Now, from the folder where you’ve extracted the Bin4ry rooting tool, double-click on “RunMe.bat” file to open it.
Step 3: Follow all the on-screen instructions you see on the command prompt window. Select “1” in the device type.
Step 4: Your device will be rooted in few minutes.
Step 5: Now, whenever you want Unroot your device, select “x” instead of “1” in step 3.
Step 6: When you are prompted to click restore on your device, click on restore on your A110 and it will reboot automatically.
Step 7: The tool will copy the last few required files automatically and then the process will complete automatically.
Step 8: To check whether your device has been rooted or not, you can download the Root Checker app from the Play Store.
Step 9: Now, to install ClockworkMod Recovery on your device, first all install “MobileUncle MTK Tool” on your device.
Step 10: Next, open up the MobileUncle MTK tool and click on “Update Recovery”.
Step 11: Now, browse to the file you’ve downloaded earlier, renamed it as “recovery.img” and place it onto the SD card.
Step 12: Soon ClockworkMod recovery will be flashed on your device.
Great! You’ve successfully rooted and installed ClockworkMod recovery onto your Micromax A110 aka Canvas 2.

  1. I cant see the recovery.img file in mobile uncle tools app .. i have placed it in the root sdcard plz help..
